Headband Leftovers

I made a few headbands with some flowers and there were little leftover pieces from the backs since they came in a bunch. Can't let them go to waste now can we?? So I beautified them and made more headbands!

Holy CRAFT!

I just bought a whole bunch of stuff from everywhere!

Stopped by JoAnnes to get some fabric flowers for headbands and belts and a new Glue gun!! Heres a picture of everything I got:

Im going to make flowers, necklaces, and purses with all of this stuff. I can't wait!

Then I went to the Dollar Tree and got ribbon for the fabric flowers, more fake flowers for hair clips, some headbands and some candle holders that I'm going to turn into outdoor lanterns for my porch. Heres the loot from the DT:

THEN! I stopped by my favorite thrift store "Thrift redefined" (shout out to my friend Anna over at the thrift store!) and loaded up there... Heres what I got:

I got this rubber dishmat that has flowers (left) that will soon be a cute back splash picture for my kitchen, 2 lace doilies to make rings and bracelets, a belt that I'm going to "re-vamp" and a big fat key that I have no idea what it will be or where it will go but I loved it.

Ive already started crafting but I don't have time to do the tutorials for before work so I'm going to come home to midnight blog after work. Check back!!

Here is how some of the hair clips turned out for the flowers I made a few posts ago.

I wrapped the headband in ribbon and then hot glued
the flower to the headband. Thanks to my new gluegun <3

Here is a picture of the one I attached to the hair band. I don't have enough hair to make a ponytail so I put it on my wrist for display :)

And here is a Picture of the clip that I did. You can also check out my fancy new haircut and color :P I got it done yesterday.

Ive got a bunch more headbands that I made today. I'll post those up with mini tutorials tonight. Thanks for reading everyone. COMMENTS ARE ALWAYS WELCOMED <3

Its my first time ;)

Excited! woo Hoo!

Simply Designing

Better Homes and Gardens inspired Hanging Basket

I saw this cute little hanging basket in a magazine. I can't remember the price but I thought "I can make that for cheaper" as always :) So I stopped by the Dollar Tree to pick up some of those hanging baskets I've seen recently. I had two different kinds of twine on hand but they have it at the dollar tree for a dollar. So total this project will cost you $2.

Dry erase memo-board

At Dollarstorecrafts.com I saw this cute little memo board made from a frame. I picked one up the other day and I "fancied" it up today. I also made another mini one specifically for keeping track of bills. None of my bills are due at the same time of the month. They are all spread out so I lose track. Its a good thing and a bad thing. Anyway. If you need a tutorial you can find it here.  Here are the little ones I made:

This cost me $2 for the frames. The rest I had on hand. But now that I think about it.... I have like a million frames I could have used. Oh well :)

Flower Pins

I saw this cute little idea originally on dollar store crafts.com but it was linked up to obsessively stitching's Blog. She has a great little tutorial and a bonus project too! *ooooh*

I bought a little bunch of flowers from the dollar tree and pulled them all apart. I used the petals from 2 flowers (there were 3 in each so I put 6 in mine) to make my one flower so it would be thicker and fluffier. Then I used part of the original centerpiece and buttons that I bought at the dollar tree a long time ago to create my new center. Finally I glued a hairclip to the back so now I can use it as a hair clip or I can also clip it to my tank top.

It cost me $1 for the bunch of flowers and $1 for 6 buttons. I was able to make 3 pins and I still had 5 buttons left over. So it cost me about 45 cents to make each one. Nice :) great for a gift or a little extra thing to clip to a card or gift card

Fairy Princess Dress up: Part One!

I saw these cute little wands at the dollar store when I bought some for my "garden stake labels". Tomorrow I'm going to a family friend's little girls birthday party. Im also face painting for all the kids (ps... if you live in the long beach, CA area and you need a face painter I'm your girl :P). Anyway I thought I would bring her a little gift even tho her mom insisted I didn't. So picked up the princess wand at the dollar tree. Here's a (really bad) picture of how it turned out:

I'm also going to make a "$5 or less fairy-princess skirt" too so check back for how to do that!

Im ALIIIIIVVVVE!

I'm Back! I'm alive! I Survived!!

I'm finally finished with finals (maybe they call it finals week because when its over, you say finally!). Since I'm a design student I didn't have any tests.. just projects. I pulled a few all nighters. But I survived. I fought the urge to walk away from projects and craft. So now that's officially summer I can craft any time I want!!

I went to an Estate sale on thursday and found the exact dining set I have been searching for. I wanted a set with a sturdy table and chairs with a padded seat so I could recover it with something cute. The table was $250 ("its worth $1800 doncha kno?") but being the bargain hunter that I am, I talked him down to $135 DELIVERED! The guy could have been a used car salesman.

The picture was taken before I even cleaned it. Its amazing what a little bit of furniture polish can do. Anyway, I planned on painting it but it was in such good condition that I may just recover the ugly vinyl seats.

I will definitely post when I recover the chairs. I can't wait! Ive never recovered chairs so let me know if you guys have any tips for me!!

The price you pay for a Major that you love

Sorry I've been so absent. My Crafting has been temporarily replaced with school projects. If you didn't know I am a design student... which means I get to stay up all night doing projects (see right for a super sexy photo of me after the all-nighter). I was at school in the computer lab drafting a commercial office for class until 3am.  There were so many people in there you would never know it was 3 in the morning. Any-who. I got most of it done. Got home and studied for the test I had at 9 am this morning (oh yea.. it was a "roll outa bed and you're lucky if i put a bra on" sorta day) which I ROCKED by the way. *high five myself*.  So now I am going to sleep for a little bit since I only got about 2 or 3 hours last night. Finals are over in ONE WEEK. Then I will be free to craft and thrift and blog all summer long <3 Thanks for baring with me. *hug*

New Layout

Ive been messing with my background and fancy-ness. So don't be alarmed (I'm sure u were all in a panic). I'll probably change it again. I need a header! Anyone know any good places to get one? Or a whole theme? I like easy :) Ive just spent an hour playing with my blog instead of doing homework.  Woops! Time got away from me. My homework is to design a Candy Store. I'm taking name suggestions. I'm so bad with naming things. I'll end up calling it something lame like "Dandy Candy!" We can't have that. No one would ever buy anything :P

There's my procrastination rambling for the day. Back to homework before work at 5:00pm. *sigh*

Garden Labels

For mothers day I decided to make my boyfriend's mom a little gift. I saw these "wands" at the dollar tree and I thought they would make cute little labels for her veggie garden.

Clothespin Picture Weath

So I saw a big pack of clothespins at the dollar tree and my roommate told me "what the heck are you going to make with clothes pins? You're Crazy!"

I heard a challenge :) I thought they would be really cute in a circle as a photo holder. So when I was babysitting I had the little boy paint the clothes pins. Then we glued them in a circle around a blank CD covered in paper. We clipped a piece of ribbon in one of the pins to hang it and you're all done!
(Sorry about the blur effect. I used pictures of the little boys family and I didn't ask if they minded if I put the pics up so I blurred it out just in case. :) )

For more of a "grown up" look you can used different colors to paint it or use cute scrapbook paper to cover the tops of the pins. This wreath is great to hold recipes, pictures, reminders or little love notes. I'm definitely going to make myself one :)

After I made this I realized it looks a whole lot like this "tea wreath"  that Kojodesigns did. (maybe that's where I subconsciously got the idea from :P) Check out her blog. Its super cute.

T-shirt Tote-bag

My roommate has an old Bob Marley shirt that was her dad's. It has a few holes and it was over sized but she couldn't bare to let it go. So she let me turn it into a tote bag!

This is a great way to hold onto all those shirts with memories attached without wearing a sloppy T-shirt! READ ON to see how I did it.

Vintage Headband

I saw this surprisingly cute hair tie at the Dollar tree. My hair is too short for a hair band so I decided to make a headband. I love headbands but they always hurt my head! So a ribbon headband is what I decided on.

Dry Erase Marker Holder

Me and my roommate have a dry erase board in the hallway where we write goofy notes back and forth and keep track of the bills and stuff. But we can only put 2 or 3 markers on the little ledge and they always fall off. So I found this magnetic marker holder at the dollar tree. Check out how I transformed the Dollar Tree find into this cute little thing.

Fabric Covered Mirror

I bought this mirror at a garage sale for $4. It was pretty nicked up so I tried to paint it... but I hated it. So I covered it with fabric. "Read More" to see how I did it.
