Dollar Store "Faux"-pothecary

UPDATE: I finally found it! Here is the link up to where I found this idea.

I've been seeing a lot of these apothecary jars in BlogLand and I haven't been able to find any at the thrift stores. But then I saw this idea of taking candle sticks and glass jars from the dollar tree and gluing them together. I was on that idea in a matter of hours.

I Really hate to take an idea and not give credit to the blog I found it on, but I was SO sure that I found the blog from the "dollar store crafts Facebook page" and now I can't find it for the life of me! I googled it and found a few blogs with similar ideas but not the same one I saw. So if I find it, I will for sure update this.

So here is my work in progress:

Now I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend finding a base similar to the one on the right.... because otherwise you will have something top heavy and you may end up with a situation similar to this:
And then there were 2

I'll keep you updated on the bathroom sink. I'm not totally satisfied.... Then again, will I ever be? :P

Headbands and Hairbands and Clips, OH MY!

Ive been crafting a lot lately because this girl I know is going to have a little craft boutique at her house. Ive been trying to "stock up" on my stuff so I have some cool things to sell. I'm thinking about starting an esty store. What do you guys think?? I would be selling headbands, clips, pins, hairbands, tins and maybe some jewelry too (at a Very reasonable price :P ).

Mini Tins

These Tins have been in the wedding section of the Dollar Tree. I Bought them a little while ago but didn't really know what to do with them. Then I had an idea. They are so cute and make great little gifts. You can put candy in them or jewelry in them to gift wrap it.

Lace Ring

As I was thrift shopping I saw this cute little lace doily that was a little stained. I got it for just $1. I thought it would be perfect for this lace ring that "Stepping thru Crazy" made on her blog.

Keep Reading to see how it turned out!

A chair I "Found in the Ali"

So let me set the scene for you:
I'm driving down the street after doing laundry visiting at my parents house. Then there.. I see it.. A cute little chair. Sad. On the side of the road. Calling out for a paint job. No, I don't need that... I have no place to put it. Should I? Shouldn't I?

Placemat purse

Check out this cute Purse I made out of a dollar tree place mat. It's super easy and only takes about 5 minutes!

You will need:
-sewing machine
-ribbon (on hand)
-handles ($2.50)
-placemat ($1.00)

ONE: Cut 4 pieces of ribbon around 3-4" depending on the thickness of your handles.

TWO: Pin the ribbon to one of the shorter sides of the placemat wrapping the handles in them. Make sure that the handle is centered on the placemat

THREE: Sew all the way across from one end to the other sewing the ribbon to the placemat. If you can sew over the existing hem it will look a little cleaner.
FOUR: Trim off excess ribbon.

FIVE: Repeat on the other side.

SIX: Fold in half and sew each side to create the pocket.
SEVEN: Fill it with stuff! Project total: $3.50

See? I actually do stuff with all my crafts!

Many times I will craft something then it just sits in my "look what I made and have nothing to do with it" pile. But look! Here are two things that actually are getting used!

First is my big key that I got at my thrift store. I wasn't sure where its home would be but here is its final resting place:
And my second item is the XXXL shirt-skirt! I am wearing it today! Here's a picture of me rockin my $1 skirt:

Totally excited that I'm finally wearing this skirt. I was waiting to figure out what to wear it with. I think it turned out pretty cute :)

4th of July Ruffle T: FREE-vamp

I made this shirt 2 years ago for the 4th. I'm not so in love with it anymore and I don't really want to go spend more money on a shirt that I will probably only wear once (ie: the one from 2 years ago). So I decided to re-vamp this shirt using stuff I :)

Here is before:
and After!

All I did was add some red ruffles to it (it covered up a stain too, score!). If I were doing this for a kid I would maybe add some sparkle to the stars. But I figured I would keep it a little more simple. I will driving up to Bass Lake on Sunday so I didn't want to go all sparkly up there.

I think it came out pretty cute!
