Craft FAIL: Tissue paper Candles

I've seen a few blogs do this tissue paper candle. Over at Not so Homemade she give you a tutorial. 

I decided to skip a few details... like the embossing gun. I used a hair dryer. And the tissue paper.... I used design trace paper because its what I had. It didn't go so well. Check it out:

 The pictures make them look WAY better than they are TRUST me!

 They are all bubbly. And they don't lay flat.

 And there are Lots of wrinkles.

I shouldn't have short cut this one.

LapTop Sleeve

I have a laptop case but I wanted just a little sleeve to keep it protected when I have it around the house.

 I had an old sample square of upholstery fabric that I used. First I sewed another scrap of fabric down the center for decoration. Then, I folded in half and stitched up the two sides, leaving one side open.

Since it was a sample piece it was already hemmed. I usually just leave it or tuck it in but you can always sew velcro on.

Dont throw away those burned down candles!

You can make them into NEW ones! 

 

Me and my friend Courtney are obsessed with the "Reflections" brand Sugar cookie candles from Kohl's. Since they are soy candles the wax burns slowly so they last much longer.... but the wick doesn't last as long as the wax.

Cupcake liner Lights

I've seen this idea somewhere...and of course, can't remember where. I've got to stop doing that. Maybe I should learn to bookmark things :P 

ANYWAY, Real Simple has this as a holiday idea. You could really use it for any holiday tho. I was so sad to take down my Christmas lights (especially since it took me forEVER to figure out how to make my light timer come on on time). So I decided to put up some patio lights. Target has some cute patio lights but I think I can do better than $15.
